DEAN CURTIS CLOTHIER, 85, peacefully entered into the Presence of the Lord Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He was born in Waukegan, Illinois on October 31, 1940 to Otis and Margery Clothier. Dean proudly served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army. Dean was a Purple Heart recipient from his service in Vietnam in 1971. After his initial service in the Army, Dean felt God calling him to be a missionary. He then reenlisted and was further trained so that he could serve the Lord in Nairobi, Kenya (East Africa) transporting doctors and others to remote villages and locations.
However Dean's highest reward came as he saw His Lord face-to-face. He lived a life of obedience and his testimony was his love of the Lord and God's Word. As a young boy of 13, he gave God Glory for his salvation and proclaimed to others that the Lord had saved him from what could have been a life of sin and wasted years. He memorized countless chapters and books of the Bible and shared the message of salvation with all those who crossed his path.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Rebekah Ann Clothier, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Inge Clothier, and his infant sister, Pamela Jean. Dean is survived by two children, Brent (Tara) Clothier and daughter Wendy Clothier-Fromm, one granddaughter Brenna, sisters, Jane Leonowitz and Caryn Clothier of Waukegan, Il, and brother Dennis (Dorothy) Clothier of Lewisville, Texas.
Dean will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in a private service, March 3, 2026. In lieu of flowers Dean has requested donations be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607.
