Ed proudly served in the United States Navy, where he built a foundation of service, resilience, and dedication that carried through every part of his life. Following his military service, he worked at SLAC (Stanford Linear Accelerator Center), where his hard work and commitment left a lasting impact on his colleagues and community. Even after retirement, he and his wife owned and operated a care home and were active members in the Salinians of Northern California— an organization of people from the same hometown in the Philippines who are dedicated to creating community and joyful relationships.
He built a beautiful life with his wife, Nikki Dumaop, with whom he shared many cherished years. Together they traveled the world— Dubai, Japan, Scandinavia, South America, Germany, and many other countries where they had adventures. They would have celebrated 53 years together in September.
A true family man, Ed’s greatest happiness came from being surrounded by his loved ones. He was affectionately known as “Papa” to his grandchildren, who adored him deeply. His kitchen was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of his delicious cooking—he was known as the family’s best cook.
Ed had a zest for life and brought joy wherever he went. He loved to sing, filling every room with his voice, whether at home or on karaoke nights. Friends and family alike knew that if there was a microphone nearby, Ed would soon be singing. He also enjoyed playing mahjong, sharing laughter and friendly competition with those around him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, music, laughter, and unforgettable meals. His memory will live on through his wife Nikki, his children Edward and Melissa, his grandchildren, and all whose lives he touched.
He will be remembered always for his devotion to family, his joyful spirit, and the way he made every gathering brighter.
