Edward Joseph Bohnemann, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Plano, Texas, on May 15, 2026. Born March 15, 1944 in Rockville Centre, New York, Ed lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a genuine passion for the people and pursuits he loved.
Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970 in the Supplies Division. During his military service, he was stationed in Alaska, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and spent a brief period in Vietnam. He carried the values of duty, integrity, and perseverance throughout the rest of his life.
On May 30, 1981, Ed married the love of his life, Sheri Feuerhelm Bohnemann. Together they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, shared hobbies, and unwavering devotion. Their marriage of more than four decades was a testament to friendship, partnership, and enduring love.
Professionally, Ed built a successful career in information technology spanning more than three decades. He began his corporate journey with JCPenney, relocating from New York to Texas in 1976 to help open the company's Texas office. He later worked for Tres Financial and National FSI, followed by Lomas Financial, before retiring from First American in 2008. Known for his exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, Ed earned the respect of colleagues throughout his career.
While his professional accomplishments were significant, Ed's greatest pride came from his family. He was perhaps best known as a devoted soccer dad, faithfully supporting Angela through more than fifteen years of soccer, from recreational leagues to her collegiate career. Whether on the sidelines, traveling to games, or celebrating victories and lessons learned, Ed was always there.
Though miles and international borders often separated them, Ed's love for his daughter Kerry and granddaughter Ava never wavered. He cherished every opportunity to connect, share stories, and celebrate their lives.
Ed also had a remarkable enthusiasm for hobbies that reflected his curiosity and creativity. Photography was one of his lifelong passions, and family members fondly remember the full photography studio he set up in the living room to capture family portraits, beloved pets, and wildlife. He loved fishing and accumulated enough fishing poles to spark endless family jokes. For a time, bicycling captured his attention, and while the hobby may have been short-lived, the family was certainly dressed for success. After retirement, golf became a favorite pastime, providing both enjoyment and lasting friendships with fellow retirees. In his later years, Ed discovered a passion for building intricate LEGO creations, carefully constructing replicas of cities he and Sheri had visited, a beloved Golden Retriever, and other meaningful reminders of a life well lived.
Ed was also a devoted fan of the Allen Americans Hockey Team. As season ticket holders for fifteen years, he and Sheri rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on "his boys," creating countless memories and friendships along the way.
Preceded in death by his parents, Maureen Mullany Bohnemann and Edgar Bohnemann. Ed is survived by his wife, Sheri; his daughters, Kerry Bohnemann Hertzog of Brandon, Manitoba, and Angela Austin of Frisco, Texas, and Angela's wife, Jen Schilb. He was a proud grandfather to Ava Laine Hertzog of Brandon, Manitoba, whose accomplishments and happiness brought him tremendous joy. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Bohnemann and his wife, Susie, of Tennessee, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews located throughout the United States.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, 11am, at Stonebriar Funeral Home located at 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033.
Those who knew Ed will remember his sharp mind, meticulous organization, steady presence, and deep loyalty to the people he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of service, commitment, and devotion to family. His life was measured not by the years he lived, but by the love he shared, the memories he created, and the countless lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
