Elizabeth Cathey was born September 7, 1927 in Whitesboro, Oklahoma to Johnnie A. Harris and Katie (Sis) Lindamood Harris. She had three sisters, Jessie, Mae Della, and Vossie, and one brother Joe. Elizabeth grew up in various states, Oklahoma, Texas, California, and Arizona, where she pulled cotton and picked peaches. As a child, she was nicknamed, Blue-eyed Pick-a-pie. Elizabeth married Dillard Cathey July 3, 1947. They had three daughters, Linda, Mary, and Martha Jo. She was known to her family as "Lizzie." The family moved from McAlester, Oklahoma to Lawton, Oklahoma in 1962. They lived in the Lawton area until 1999, then she moved to The Colony. Elizabeth had been a member of various Churches of Christ including McAlester Church of Christ, Eight and Lee Church of Christ in Lawton, and The Branch.
Elizabeth worked as a short-order cook for about 25 years in the Lawton and Duncan, Oklahoma area. She greatly enjoyed yard work including flower and vegetable gardens, mowing the yard, cooking, crocheting, quilting, embroidering and keeping an impeccably clean house. Elizabeth was a giver of things whether it be love, time or food. She loved God first and then her family. Elizabeth had an amazing sense of humor and kept her family laughing. She was a hard worker and never gave up.
Anyone who met Elizabeth loved her. She had beautiful, sparkling bluish-green eyes and an infectious smile. She became acquainted with many people at the grocery stores and Home Depot where we shopped at. They would always come up to her and hug her. Elizabeth never met a stranger. She loved people.

Mom was our matriarch and we were blessed and honored to have her as our Mom, Grandma, and GiGi. We miss her dearly and she will be forever in our hearts and thoughts. Life will never be the same without her, our lives have changed forever.
