Elvia R. Canales, age 89, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 9, 2026. She was born on September 4, 1936, in Anáhuac, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Manuel Rebolloso and Oralia Alcorta Rebolloso.
Known affectionately as “Vita” to her family and friends, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God. She worked for many years as a top selling Home Furniture Sales Associate with Montgomery Ward, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. A longtime member of North Dallas Family Church, Vita found great joy in serving her church family and living out her faith each day.
Vita enjoyed sewing, cooking, singing, and caring for those around her. She was known for her hard work, unwavering faithfulness to her husband and family, and her deep love for the Lord. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her joyful spirit shined through when she sang her beloved corritos, bringing smiles to all who heard her. She lovingly taught others how to cook and sew and faithfully shared the Gospel whenever she had the opportunity. Her greatest legacy is the example she left of loving and serving her Heavenly Father with all her heart.
She is survived by her loving husband, Armando C. Canales; her children, Rogelio and Leti Rebolloso, Elsa and Wilbur Holaday, the late David Luera, Diana and Daniel Fernandez, Sandra and James Fred Holland, Sonia and John Hufman, and Raquel and Steve DeWitt.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: RJ Rebolloso, Jorge Guerra, and Jay Rebolloso; Lee and Sydney Holaday; Amber Austin; Daniel Anthony and Derian Fernandez; Melanie Holland; and Sterling DeWitt.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Daniela, Taylor, Rainey, Axel, and Frankie Rebolloso; Ethan and Luke Guerra; Avery, Marli, and Ryan Rebolloso; Sophia and Eleanor Holaday; Maysen Holaday; Aaliyah and Angelo Gallo; Gwen Austin; and Gabriella DeWitt.
She is survived by her siblings: Abraham Rebolloso, Marti Rangel, Rachel Camero, Aida Garcia, and Rosie Muir.
Vita was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Oralia Rebolloso; her sisters, Martha Rebolloso, Gloria Perales, and Esther Lively; and her beloved son, David Luera, who passed away in 2020.
A Memorial Service celebrating Vita’s life will be held at Stonebriar Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” — Psalm 34:1-3
While her family deeply mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing she has been welcomed into the arms of her Savior. Vita’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, devotion, service, and love. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on through the generations of family and friends she touched, and through the unwavering example of a woman who loved God with all her heart.
