Ethel Jaynice Wood was born in Pampa, Texas on July 16, 1934 and lost her battle with illness on March 17, 2019. Her parents were James and Dorothy (both deceased) and she is survived by 1 of 7 siblings Charles and his wife Penelope. She was married to Fred Wood now deceased. She is also survived by her loving and caring daughter Wanda Maroney and husband Lawrence. Her friends called her Jaynice but she was affectionately known as “Nana” by most, especially by her surviving grandchildren: Kirk (wife Amanda), Chris (wife Dawn), Fred (named after his grandfather), and Brittani who also shares her middle name (husband David), Lawrence Jr (wife Katie) and the last of the grandchildren Lindsay. She was also blessed with 22 great grandchildren.
She had a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, a profession where she spent over 60 years before retiring. She was the person who would give anything she could to help others not only in her professional life but also in her personal life. There are countless people whose life she touched and many of them if given the opportunity would say they are better off for it. She was strong-willed, strong-minded, and opinionated and was always willing to impart her wisdom with anyone she encountered. She had a story to tell for every occasion (known as her war stories) which was one of the things we all loved about her. Nana loved shopping, jewelry and taking road trips. She spent the majority of her retired years with Wanda and Lawrence and enjoyed spending time with all of the grand and great grandchildren.
Nana often reminded the family that she lived a rich and full life and that she did everything she wanted to do. She will be missed, always loved and never forgotten.
God bless you and rest in peace our sweet Nana!
