Eveline Constance O'Reilly passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Frisco, Texas. She was born in County Carlow, Ireland, on April 18, 1931, to Peter and Bridget Ellard. She had five brothers - Peter, Paddy, Cyril, Jimmy, and Paul - and one sister Joan. All preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip James O'Reilly (Jim). She is survived by her daughter Deborah Ann O’Reilly and her son James Patrick O’Reilly. She had five grandchildren: Dalton, Shelby, Cameron, Courtney, and Caitlin.
Eveline, who went by Connie, loved her family more than anything. She cared for children in her home and was loved by all who knew her. She never met a stranger and made everyone laugh.
When Connie was only 17 years old, she left Ireland for New York City with her brother Peter, arriving at Ellis Island by boat. She worked as a waitress and a model in New Yolrk before joining the Women's Army Corps. She met her husband Jim while both were in the army. They married on December 27, 1958, in New York. They settled in Kansas where Jim was born and raised. Jim was a high school Latin teacher and principal in Kansas before moving the family to Westlake Village, California, where he worked as an auditor for the McDonald's Corporation. Jim and Connie then moved to Plano, Texas, where Jim managed the finances for his brother Charlie's McDonald's restaurants and Connie cared for infants in-home. The children called her Nana, and many stayed in touch over the years.
Jim passed away on April 6, 2000, from complications related to Cushing’s Disease.
Connie cared for all of her grandchildren in her home, forming a lasting bond with Dalton and Shelby that continued into their adulthood.
In her later years, Connie struggled with Alzheimer's and dementia. Although she lost most of her memory in her last years, she kept her humor and warmth for those whose presence she felt comforting her.
A memorial service for Connie will take place on August 23, 2025, with a prayer service at 1:00 PM and a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM, both at Stonebriar Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
