

After graduating from Leverett’s Chapel High School, she attended Kilgore Community College where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. After receiving an Associate Degree, she transferred to North Texas State College (now UNT) where she received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education in June 1954.
Her teaching career began in Kilgore with Kilgore Independent School District where she taught first grade. She moved to Midland, TX in 1956 to teach in the Midland Independent School District. She also taught several years in Jack and Jill private school but returned to MISD in 1985 until 1990 when she retired.
She met Henry Libby in Midland in 1956 and they married September 21, 1957. They had 2 children, Paul and Lisa. They lived in Midland until April 2007 when they moved to Frisco, TX.
While in Midland, she was active in St. Luke’s UMC where she was a member for 48 years and served in many leadership roles. She helped organize and lead the first class for teenage girls at Casa de Amigos, a church-sponsored outreach program. She was also a leader for the Campfire girls. She was a long time member of the Permian Basin Geological and Geophysical Auxiliary having held several offices including that of president.
She has been a member of the First UMC-Frisco since 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Wilton Slayter. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Henry C. Libby and their children: Lisa and her husband, Rob; Paul and his wife, Carrie; her brother, Wendell Edwin Slayter; her 6 grandchildren and a host of extended family and cherished friends.
