Born Geoffrey Gill Jackson on March 27, 1947 in Madison, WI. Geoff was preceded in death by his father, William Arthur Jackson, mother Ruth Carol Jackson and his brother Gregory Jackson. Geoff was an extraordinary husband, a devoted father to Jason, Lisa and David, and loving brother. An always engaged grandpa and great grandpa, Geoff was a loyal friend, an avid hunter and, when hunting wasn’t an option, he settled for fishing.
He is survived by Linda, his wife of 37 years, and children, son Jason Cano and wife Debora in Austin, TX, daughter Lisa and husband Andrew Iselin in Littleton, CO., son David Jackson and wife Elizabeth in West Allis, WI., sisters Julie Jackson in Gary, IN. and Tere and husband Gary Zimmermann in Cedar Grove, WI. as well as the particular joys of his life—6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren—and a plethora of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He graduated from Nicolet High School in 1965, graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BSME in mechanical engineering in 1970 and had two children as he began his career at Procter & Gamble from 1970-1981. He continued his professional printing career path with Brown Printing Company in Minnesota and Pennsylvania, found his way to Texas via a career at Quebecor World Printing through 2007, and retired from Optimal Blue as a Facilities Manager in 2020. He was a conflicted Packer and Dallas Cowboy fan, and always found great joy in all things Wisconsin Badgers.
Texas became his family’s “new home” beginning in 1990 and is still the place his family gathers annually to celebrate what he called one of the most special spots on God’s planet. His post-retirement passions included backyard bird watching, a new-found love of all things growing from the earth, taking his 3-year old great grandson Tato on “guy trips” to fishing holes, dog parks, and their favorite “Cheeky Monkeys”. He gratefully volunteered with Victim’s Relief and became a dedicated Lay Leader with Coaches’ Outreach, an organization bringing the Bible’s teachings to high school coaches as they influence young men and women in high school athletics.
Despite his 10-year battle with cancer and kidney disease, he remained courageous, compassionate, generous and positive about life. A spiritual man who never met a stranger, Geoff was a dedicated student of the Bible, was always willing to listen, to share a joke, cherished his family and friends, had an infectious smile, loved a great hunt or hunting story and was kind to all he met.
Thank you for loving him along with us . . .
Linda, Jason, Debora, Lisa, Andy, David, Liz, Julie, Tere, Gary, Maya, Kevin, Luke, Corbin, Caryn, Nora, Evelyn, Mateo and Walker Lee.
