Gerald Roman Szczepanski

Known by the nicknames Spaz, Skip, Pops, and Z, Jerry was born in Racine, Wisconsin, and lived with a generous spirit, a quick sense of humor, and a genuine love for people. He was a passionate Green Bay Packers fan who enjoyed golf, a good game of Gin, and watching nearly any sport. He loved M&M's, rescue dogs, pickles, Wisconsin brats, and, most of all, sharing laughter with the many friends he made throughout his life.

As the creator of Gadzooks clothing stores in the 1990's, Jerry combined entrepreneurial vision with an instinct for bringing people together, helping make the stories a beloved teenage hot spot. Yet his greatest impact was found in the relationships he built. His warmth, humor, and ability to make people feel welcome, stayed with everyone who knew him.

His generosity extended to future generations as well. A scholarship established in his mother's name, Florence V. Scholarship helped more than 100 students pursue a college education, creating a legacy of opportunities and hope.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Roman; and his brother, Ron.

Jerry was the loving father of Jake, Toby, Riley, and Jett; grandfather of Ryan, Ava, and Luke; and father-in-law of Ashley Szczepanski, Jennifer Szczepanski, and Akisha Duncan. He leaves behind countless friends whose lives were brighter because they knew him. And lastly, the love of his life and best friend, his cherished Sheryl.

His family is profoundly grateful to the many doctors and therapists who cared for him. with special thanks to Joey Uek. Jerry's memory will live on in the family he loved, the friends he treasured, the the students he helped, and the many lives he touched.
