James David Wade

James David Wade, of Prosper, Texas, loving husband and father of two, passed away at the age of 79 on Thursday July 6th, 2023. James (J.D.) was born on June 22, 1944 just outside of Granville, Tennessee to Willie and Vola Bell Wade.

He received a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida in 1967 and continued on to work for Dow Chemical for 35 years. On Aug.19th, 1967 he married Kathryn Sue Harris. They raised two daughters, Mindy and Beth.

He was affectionately known as Papa J to his grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them. J.D. had a passion for golf and gardening. He had an adventurous spirit and was fortunate enough to be able to live abroad and travel extensively. He was an active member of his community, serving in leadership roles in The Lion’s Club, Richwood Fire Department, St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, and the Brazoswood High School Band Boosters.

J.D. was preceded in death by his father Willie Wade, mother Vola Bell Wade, and siblings Preston Wade, Mason Wade, and Barbara Denson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kit Wade, his children, Mindy (Jason) Helgeson and Beth (Steve) Burris, four grandchildren Emily Pruett, Dylan Burris, Katie Pruett, and Drew Burris, his sister Laura Whittington, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held at Stonebriar Funeral Home at 10375 Preston Rd, Frisco, TX 75033 on Sunday, July 30th from 2 - 4 pm.
