AJ was a beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He loved the ocean, Rock & Roll, his family, and a good fight. And fighting is what he did. 23 years ago, AJ began his boxing match with death after his esophagus ruptured, causing acid to spill into his lungs. After a lifesaving procedure AJ was left permanently scarred, his lungs were damaged and scar tissue pushed against his heart and lungs. Every day was a battle, but you never heard him complain. There was hardly ever a day that he was in a bad mood. It didn't matter what the day might bring, as long as some Van Halen or Led Zeppelin was blaring in the background, he would find something to be happy about. AJ fought death until the bitter end. Living longer than any doctor said he would and doing more than any doctor said he could.
You see, no one told AJ what to do. Not the doctors, and not even Death himself. Once AJ finally thought that Death had enough of a beating, he decided it was time to let go. He was surrounded with the love of his wife and kids in his final moments. With Led Zeppelin playing as he took his final breaths.
AJ was predeceased by his parents Gaynell and Allan Staley. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife and best friend of 36 years, Eddie. His three cherished children; Michael, Beau and Kricket. Six amazing Grandchildren; Layla, Jay, Jameson, Alayna, Barrett, and Enrique. And loving sister; Linda.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. It will be a private gathering of close friends and family. An invitation will be sent out to those invited once the date is determined.
