September 8, 1969 – April 14, 2025
Jeffery Scott Van Brocklen, 55, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 14, 2025, at home, with his father, Alan Van Brocklen, caring for him in his final days.
Jeff was born on September 8, 1969, in Weaverville, California. He spent his early years in California alongside his brother Eric. Jeff spent much of his childhood in foster care. At 16, he was adopted by Alan and Judy Van Brocklen, who gave him the love and support of a true family. Jeff later resided in Yuma, Arizona, and moved to Sierra Vista in 1984, where he graduated from high school.
Jeff held various positions in the convenience store industry. Still, one of his favorite jobs was working with the carnival, where he found joy in the energy and excitement of traveling. He also created a ride transportation business catering to military personnel and worked as a taxi and limousine driver, where he developed his love for driving.
While living in Sierra Vista, Jeff met Marcheta “Kit” Richardson, and together they had a daughter, Nicole. In 1994, he met Jennifer Harp, and the two were married in 1995. Together, they had three daughters: Kaytlyn, Cheyenne, and Sevan, and moved to El Paso in 1995. Though they later divorced.
In 2002, Jeff completed long-haul trucking school and began a career as a truck driver. He traveled all across the United States and into Canada, transporting cargo, fuel, and refrigerated goods. For a short time, he proudly owned his truck and operated as an independent contractor.
Due to health concerns, Jeff eventually stepped away from long-haul trucking and returned to El Paso to be closer to his daughters. He continued working for local delivery companies, staying connected to the road he loved so much.
Family meant everything to Jeff. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and his friendships were deep and lasting. Always willing to lend a hand, Jeff was known for his generous heart, sense of humor, and adventurous spirit. He was a lifelong Star Wars fan and a passionate Dungeons & Dragons player, never short on stories about his adventures—real and imagined.
Jeff will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his father, Alan Van Brocklen; his siblings, Eric Hawkins, Rick Tuziski, Jodi Tuzinski, and Brenda Roettger; his daughters: Nicole Mott, Kaytlyn Van Brocklen-Gilmore, Cheyenne Van Brocklen, and Sevan Van Brocklen; his sons-in-law: Joseph Mott and Cory Van Brocklen-Gilmore; and his four beloved grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy.
Jeff is now reunited in death with his sister, Tracy Tuzinski; his mother, Judy Van Brocklen; and Jennifer Brown, the mother of 3 of his children.
Though he could be stubborn in the most unforgettable ways, it was that same determination and fire that made him so deeply loved—and we’re going to miss that fierce spirit every single day.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held in El Paso at a later date.
In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jeff’s memory.
