OBITUARY

Johnie Dean Fletcher

February 9, 1935 – November 7, 2025
Obituary of Johnie Dean Fletcher
IN THE CARE OF

Stonebriar Funeral Home and Cremation Services

John will lovingly be remembered by Mary, his wife of 65 years, their daughters, Brenda (Gregg) and Barbara (Dave); grandchildren Jessica (Lee), Aubrey, Daniel (Lucy), Shawn; and great-granddaughters Emila and Eva.

John enlisted in the United States Army in 1957 and after six years was honorably discharged from the National Guard. He worked for Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas for over 30 years until he retired in 1997 to move to Grand Lake in Grove, Oklahoma. In 2002 he moved back to Wichita, residing there until 2022 when he moved to McKinney, Texas.

He loved the outdoors, and his favorite place was in his boat on a lake, fishing rod in hand. If the weather was too cold, he’d go “huntin”. In the summers he loved camping with his wife and twin girls. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards with family and loved to travel, especially if he could spend time on a lake. When he and his wife Mary moved to Texas in 2022, you would often find him sitting on his patio, under the tree, feeding the bunnies and listening to the birds sing.

He never met a stranger and always had a good story to tell. He was a man of faith and family was everything to him. He liked the Dallas Cowboys and loved his country music. In his 90 years you might have even heard him singing a tune or two. He was a soft-spoken gentle man with a kind heart and will truly be missed.

John is proceeded in death by: his parents, Donald and Belva; and sister Violet (James) Kates, brother Floyd (Theresa) Fletcher.

He is survived by: his loving wife Mary; his brothers; Harvey (Cathy), and Jerry Fletcher; his sisters; Ladonna Rice and Linda (Charlie) Lyle; two children, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
