Karl-Heinz Schnitger

Our beloved husband, father, and opa, Karl-Heinz Schnitger, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Karl was born on April 9, 1943, to his loving parents, Erika Bischoff and Arthur Schnitger, in Bremen, Germany. It was in Bremen that he met the love of his life, Renate Baumgart.

Karl and Renate married and, in their early twenties, immigrated to the United States, settling in Queens, New York. Karl’s lifelong career with Kuehne+Nagel brought him to the U.S. and marked the beginning of many assignments around the world, including Houston, Dallas, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. During these years abroad, their family grew: their son, Christian, was born in Queens in 1968, and their daughter, Bianca, was born in Houston in 1971.

Karl developed a deep love of travel throughout these adventures, and he and Renate embraced every opportunity to explore the world together. He returned home to Germany often to visit family and cheer on his favorite soccer team, Werder Bremen. Above all, Karl was a devoted father and a doting grandfather to his two grandsons. Family meant everything to him, and his love and presence will be profoundly missed.

Karl is predeceased by his beloved wife, Renate, whom he missed tremendously. He is survived by his son, Christian Schnitger; his daughter, Bianca (Schnitger) Cathey; his son-in-law, Carter Cathey; and his two cherished grandsons, Aidan and Parker. He is also lovingly remembered by extended family in Germany.

A Celebration of Life memorial service for Karl will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Stonebriar Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033.
