Kenyatta Auturio Plummer

Kenyatta Auturio Plummer, beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandson, friend, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. Born on New Year’s Eve 1973, in Chicago, Illinois. Kenyatta brought laughter, warmth, and a one-of-a-kind personality to the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Kenyatta was a graduate of Thornton High School in Harvey, Illinois. He went on to build a career centered around service and community, spending more than 17 years as a dedicated bus driver for the Frisco Independent School District. Over those years, he became more than a driver to many. He was a familiar face and caring friend, a trusted presence, and a valued member of the Frisco school family. His impact reached far beyond the miles he drove, and the memories he created along the way will remain with those who knew and loved him.

Kenyatta had a zest for life and a wide range of interests that reflected his fun-loving spirit. He was a true music lover who enjoyed all genres, a proud sneakerhead, and a devoted movie buff. He also loved trivia and could always bring a little friendly competition and plenty of conversation to any gathering. But perhaps his greatest gift was his sense of humor. Known affectionately as “our family comedian,” Kenyatta had a way of bringing laughter into the room and making people smile when they needed it most. His humor, quick wit, and ability to find joy in the everyday made him unforgettable.

Above all, Kenyatta treasured his family. He was a devoted husband to Kawanda Kenya, and a loving father to Harlee James and Hendrix Jett. His love for his family was evident in the countless moments, conversations, laughter, and memories they shared. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through his children and through every life he touched.

Kenyatta is survived by his beloved wife, Kawanda (Lewis) Plummer; his children, Harlee and Hendrix Plummer; his grandmother, Maxine Plummer El; his mother-in-law, Paris Victoria (Lewis) Crowe, and father-in-law, Vincent Jones; his older siblings, Lizette Walls, Arthur Lee Walls, and Maron Plummer Sr. (Michelle); his younger siblings, Natiya Plummer, Porthenia (Plummer) Marshall, Chakina (Plummer) Peals (Tyress), and Stephanie Jones; and his younger brothers-in-law, Vincent Lewis, Pharoah Lewis, and Christian Crowe. He is also lovingly remembered by extended family, friends, coworkers, and the many members of his Frisco School family whose lives he touched throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Diana (Plummer) Nalls and Arthur Lee Walls; his paternal grandparents, Lenora Jackson-Walls and Arthur Lee Walls; his maternal grandfather, James Plummer El; his brother-in-law, Cleophus Marshall; father-in-law Leo Crowe

Kenyatta leaves behind a family filled with stories, laughter, music, memories, and love. Though his absence will be deeply felt, those who knew him will continue to hear his laughter, remember his jokes, celebrate his passions, and carry forward the love he gave so freely.

His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
