Laura Scarbrough was born on March 21, 1961 in Dallas, TX to Suzanne Jeansonne. She was a loving, kind, gentle little girl who was devoted to her big brother Chris and little sister Tricia. She enjoyed playing with her friends, being her mother’s helper in many ways, and she was quick to help anyone at any time. She was also very brave. Laura loved being a Blue Bird and was excited when she “flew up” to be a Campfire Girl. In 1974 she gained another sister, Gina, and a brother, Jeff, when her mother married Jerry Jeansonne, and the new family moved to Massachusetts. She loved the freedom, peace, and beauty of the countryside. At school she made friends and became a skilled flute player. Although Laura loved Massachusetts and her family there, she felt strongly about coming back to Texas which she did after graduation in 1979.
Laura married David Scarbrough on May 2, 1981. Together they had three children; Jacob and twin girls, Emma and Maia. She was happiest being with her family, taking care of her children, playing volleyball, cooking, baking, listening to country music, and going to the lake, especially Lake Texoma. She loved all holidays and celebrating life’s special moments with those she “loved to the moon and back”. She loved various TV shows such as Dateline, Nightlight, and 60 Minutes. Her favorite movies were The Sound of Music and Vacation. Laura had many nicknames including Momma, Bear, Lo-Lo, B, and Babe. She was a friend to anyone and everyone she met. She was a spark of energy that ignited light, joy, and laughter in every room she walked into. She was a shoulder to lean on to lessen the load, and an example of constant selflessness. She was an amazing teacher to her adored students, and one in life to her children. She was a giver of all things, a guide to help anyone who needed assistance, a mother to many, and the epitome of what it means to be an angel on earth.
She is preceded in death by her sweet dog, Taffy Scarbrough, her aunt, Barbara Allen, uncle Edward C. Benninger Jr., and grandparents, Edward and Gladys Benninger. Left to honor her legacy is her husband David Scarbrough of Frisco, TX; her son Jacob Scarbrough and his wife Jennifer of Davis, CA; daughter Emma Scarbrough and her boyfriend Brad Keegan-Jones of Frisco, TX; daughter Maia Scarbrough of Frisco, TX and her dog Salem Scarbrough.
