Nancy Wood-Zornes, May 30, 2024 in McKinney, Texas, aged 86, after a lengthy illness. She was born Nancy Carol Wilkin on April 3, 1938 in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Ellsworth Donovan Wilkin and Ruth Lenore Dings.
Nancy was an accomplished musician, having played flute and piano from an early age. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she played organ every week with few interruptions for more than 60 years. She was also a gifted composer and arranger of music for choirs, soloists, and flute choirs. For many years she conducted choirs for Christmas concerts in her local congregations, and mentored many young musicians throughout her life. She was also involved with many stage productions both as an actress and in the orchestra pit. Among her hobbies were crafting of Tree-Tot Christmas ornaments, and several shadow boxes.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Robert Zornes, brother Tom Wilkin, children Gregory Wood (Cindy), Cameron Wood, Christine Burdick (Daniel), and Amy Burr (Matthew), stepchildren Nathan Zornes (Angela), Christie Kovach (Robert), and Matthew Zornes (Angela), as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Ronald Wood, brother Don Wilkin, and daughter Debra Wood.
A Memorial Service is scheduled on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 2:00 pm Central at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 11000 Eldorado Parkway in Frisco, Texas. Flowers may be sent to that address on that date.
