Patricia Joanne Whitman passed from this life on to her eternal home on September 24, 2017 in Frisco, Texas with her family at her bedside. Patricia was born on August 31, 1945 in Flint, Michigan to her parents, Raymond Smith and Evelyn Cole. She was the older sister to her brother, Barry Smith. Patricia lived over 50 years in Florida later deciding to retire in Frisco, TX.
Patricia graduated her high school as the class Valedictorian which launched her into her nursing career in pediatrics that spanned 50 years of service. When she wasn’t working, Patricia spent time knitting, baking, playing cards, reading and she loved enjoying flowers and plants of every kind. However, she still found time to watch the daily newscasts and General Hospital, something she had done since the 70’s. Patricia was a practicing Catholic and found great joy in her faith.
When asked where her favorite place would be, Patricia would respond immediately wherever her grandchildren were as she loved spending time with them. Family and friends called her Meme, a name she wore proudly.
Patricia’s legacy will live on through her children, her daughters, Kelly Whitman and Heather Pereira and her husband, Michael Pereria; her grandchildren, Kylie and Gracie Pereira; her brother, Barry and his wife, Karyn Smith of Kalamazoo, MI; her nieces and nephews, Nikki Cekola, Corey Smith, Courtney Beck, Crystal Saia and Kathleen Wagner; as well as her best friends, T.T. and Judi Land and Henry and Ann Forrester.
Patricia will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Patricia’s name to the American Cancer Society and Operation Kindness.
