

Paula was proudly born and raised in Tyler, Texas where she graduated from John Tyler High School Class of '81. Those who knew her recalled her as a loving person, an angel and as a virtuous woman. Also an alumna of the University of Texas at Arlington with her Bachelors in Business Administration. Paula applied her education, work ethic and talents throughout her career years, lastly positioned as a Senior Systems Administrator for Children’s Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Paula’s love for red roses was unmatched, befitting for a native from Rose City. She loved listening to music, especially timeless classics with Luther Vandross being her favorite artist. Paula loved the Lord and her Christian faith was her foundation, serving as an active member of The One Community Church in Plano, Texas.
Paula was married to Vance Chatman and together they raised three wonderful children: Lauren, Austin and Alexis. Many speak and mention of her being the rock of the family with a pure heart and spirit.
Paula was preceded in death by her father, Phillip Gaines and is survived by her mother, Bertha Coats . Her memory will live on with her husband, Vance Chatman and through her beloved children: her eldest daughter, Lauren Woodson (James) of McKinney, TX; only son, Austin Chatman of Omaha, Nebraska; and her youngest daughter, Alexis Chatman of Canton, Ohio; her grandchildren, Maddox and Makai; her 15 siblings: Wanda, Barbara, Vernon, Billy, Nellie, Fay, Jerry, Johnny, Ester, Willie, Doris, Jesse, Ella Mae, Benny, and Jessie Mae.
Paula was loved while she was with us here in life and will be continued to be loved by her family and friends through time and all eternity. She will be dearly missed yet highly honored and celebrated!
