Peggy Eugenia Reitman was called home to be with Jesus on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Frisco Texas after a long battle with vascular dementia. Peggy, a beloved wife and mother, was born on June 30, 1942, in Washington, Georgia to Wallace Eugene Hopkins and Frankie Lou Hopkins. Peggy graced three different continents during her lifetime, having lived in Japan where she graduated from Narimasu High School in Tokyo in 1960 while her father was helping to rebuild the Japanese military after WWII, as well as Europe during her husband James Reitman’s deployment in the U.S. Air Force. Being raised as a military dependent overseas, known as a being a “military brat,” was an important facet of Peggy’s life, and she stayed associated with a military brat’s organization throughout her life.
Peggy was the epitome of a kind and loving soul. This trait revealed itself in Peggy’s persistent efforts to comfort and care for folks around her. She was known for the lost art of snail-mailing letters and cards to her friends and loved ones whether as a written thank you card or in celebration of each anniversary and birthday.
Peggy was proficient in American Sign Language and would often sign church services or other events as a service to the deaf community.
Peggy graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and did it as a single mother with two children. She entered the nursing program without much support from those in her life but had belief in herself and ultimately enjoyed a multi-decade career as a registered nurse.
It was while acting in her role as a nurse that Peggy met the love of her life and future husband James Reitman. Jim and Peggy, doctor and nurse, became man and wife on June 26, 1976, beginning a partnership of love and respect to last the ages.
Peggy’s relationship with Christ formed the cornerstone of her life. She chose to live her life as a humble example to others of what being with Christ meant.
Peggy was predeceased by her father Wallace and her mother Frankie Lou. Peggy is survived by her husband Jim, her brother Wally Mason Hopkins, her son Jeffery David Sattler and his wife Kelda, her son Andrew Eugene Sattler and his wife Marina, her son James Jay Reitman and his wife Jenny, and her daughter Katie Ruth Moyer and her husband Russ. Peggy has lots of grandkids, currently 16 grands and 9 great grandchildren with more that are sure to come.
Our beloved Peggy was a blessing beyond measure. And even from heaven, she is still blessing so many with the way she loved the least of these. That was her mission on this side of eternity, and God fulfilled it beautifully.
