

Richard Jack Wong was born on November 27, 1948 to Jack Hing Wong and Mah Shee Ting. The second of six children, Richard grew up in Cleveland, MS. On December 27, 1980, he married Shirley Lynn-Young Byrd and they had one son, Matthew.
Proudly serving in the U. S. Marine Corps, Richard was in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970. He received his B.S. in Biology from University of Memphis in 1995. Richard worked as a Histologist for 37 years and received his histology training from MD Anderson of Houston. He retired in June 2016 and enjoyed golfing, family time, watching movies and TV in his favorite recliner and cooking Cantonese-Chinese food for his family and friends. He also enjoyed sleeping late on weekdays, using his free time to catch up with the Mississippi Delta Chinese Group, and spending time with his church family at the Asian American Baptist Church in Richardson, TX and the Bereans Sunday School class of Hunters Glen Baptist Church in Plano, TX.
Richard is proceeded in death by his parents, Jack Hing Wong and Mah Shee Ting; brothers, Willie Wong and Phillip Wong; and sister, Evelyn Wong-Hermann.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shirley Wong; son, Matthew Wong; sister, Pat Wong Wolf; brother, Jack Wong Jr; four nephews and one great-niece.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 6pm to 9pm. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 10am to 12pm at Stonebriar Funeral home in Frisco, TX
Richard was loved while he was here with us and will continue to be loved throughout time and eternity.
