Born on Thursday, July 1st, 1948 at 4:33 am; he passed from this earth on Thursday, November 1st 2018 at 4:45 am.

Born and raised in Irving Texas, Robert is preceded by his parents Flora Mae Moreland and Robert Gordon Douglas and brother in law Jack Green. He leaves his partner of sixteen years, Averil Vestal; her daughter Lyn Odom and husband Larry; her son Scott Vestal and wife Lydia; and their children; his sister Flora Louise Gray and husband Ron; his brother John Lester Douglas and wife Marjean; his sisters Linda Fay Green and Glenda Gay Rasco (whom he lovingly called Peat and Repeat) and Glenda’s husband Calvin Rasco; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Robert loved to travel and he LOVED square dancing, especially with his sweetheart, Averil. He retired from work after surviving a stroke, but did not survive Parkinson disease. Robert was a friend to all, his wish is that you do not send flowers but instead donate what you like to the American Parkinson Disease Association.

The memorial service will be officiated by his nephew William Robert Rasco of Spring Texas.

Every time Dream and I were around Robert he would give us both a big hug, and always treated us like one of the family. I agree with everyone else about his big smile, he had a great smile on his face always. I saw a saying that says it all:

Some people look for a beautiful place
Other make a place beautiful

That was Robert!

He will be missed but I am thankful he is no longer suffering.

Robert you will be missed by many but loved by all. No matter how bad thing got you never let it get you down. You always had a 😃 on your face and a joke in your heart. I looked forward to every year going to the family reunion. And seeing you and visiting with you and hearing a story about how the dog tied you to a pole in your chair. I pray I will see you in heaven some day with the rest of the family. Rest In Peace till we greet each other again your cosine Rick.

Our dear Grampa Robert will be genuinely missed. Almost every time he saw me, he asked why he never had a teacher who looked like me - such a flatterer! He always went along to support the grands at concerts and shows, no matter how difficult it might have been in the later years. Robert was a thankful, humble, patient and gracious example in our family. He had a big smile, a bigger heart, and the gift of love. He prayed with genuine honor for the Lord and I know he was welcomed Home when he breathed his last Thursday morning. God be with Mum and his siblings as they remember his sweet life and treasure the fact that he is at peace now and always.

We have known Robert and Averil for a long time and always enjoyed being with them and around them. Robert would always tease me about bringing him a chocolate pie or just about anything chocolate. Robert always had a smile on his face and twinkles in his eyes. Never a dull moment about him. So sad to see you go, but so glad you are at peace and rest now. You have fought a tough battle for many years. Love you and many prayers for Averil.

We first met Robert 6 yrs ago at a family reunion in Florida and he instantly became " Uncle Robert " united to my kids by their love of " Hellmans mayonnaise "
An honour and pleasure to call him Uncle for the short time we had him in our life
Sleep peacefully ♥️

Robert, my brother my friend 💔. Once there was five and now there’s four. It’s hard for me to think of you in past tense 😢. You have been a fighter for the last several years, such a encouragement for me. He was a great brother. His first job he gave me and Linda a present. It’s always stuck with me , cause a teenager boy had better things to spend his money on than his twin sisters (he always said if you fought one of them you had to fight them both!). I will truly miss you brother. I have a lot of good memories. Love you Robert Douglas 😘

Always that beautiful mischievous smile. Even during times that most folks would just sit down and give up—-not Robert. A huge smile and he gave the best “yellow rocks” anyone can receive. He will be greatly missed but God has gained a SUPER angel. Rest In Peace, dear friend. Love and prayers to the family. Joe and Pat

Robert and I met on a blind date, we both needed a dance partner. Roberts first sentence to me was “ hi, so if you want to dance let’s go”. Hmmm 16 years later here we are. Always smiling and never a bad word of anyone, kind, gentle and happy. Easy to please even this past year as hard as it was for him, he tried to always smile. I’ll miss you, I already do miss you so does poor Rowan. I can’t bring you back I’m glad you are at peace, never a complaint. When I want you back I think only of the rough time you’ve had and Praise God He took you to be with him
Love you Robert XXX
