Sandra Sue Ganschow

January 2, 1941 – September 15, 2026

Sandra Sue Ganschow (formerly Sandra Waldrop) was born January 2, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas, to Young Leonard Waldrop and Dorothy Pearl Waldrop. She had one sister, Della, who passed away in 1957 at the age of 18 years.

Sue met Richard Duane “Dick” Ganschow while attending Brigham Young University. They were married on January 28, 1961, in the Manti, Utah temple. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, service, and helping others.

Sue spent much of her life teaching children in regular and special education, and speech therapy. She spent many summers teaching swimming lessons, water safety, and summer school. Sue was a hard worker and cherished helping children learn and grow.

Sue had the gift of being a friend to all. She had a good sense of humor and knew how to bring warmth and laughter to the people around her.

Sue’s faith was an important part of her life and she was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sue and Dick served together in their church, and for approximately 20 year in the Dallas temple. They also enjoyed serving the young single adults for 33 years. Sunday nights regularly brought the singles into their home for meetings, activities, games, and friendship. Sue and Dick always wanted their home to be a place where young people felt welcome and loved, and over the years it became a second home to many.

Sue loved her family deeply. The role for which her family will remember her most is mother.

Sue is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” Ganschow, and their three children: Marie (Don Wolfe), Karen (John Widtfeldt), and Michael (Cheryl Ganschow). She was the grandmother to six: Christian Purnell, Michael Purnell, Alexis Sears (Brock), Madeline Crofts (Charlie), Lindsey Britton, and Andrew Ganschow. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Adelaide, Benson, and Ryan.
