Stephan James Corrie

Born on September 24, 1943, in Hayward, California, Steve lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to his family and friends. Raised on a California ranch, his journey eventually took him around the world through his service in the United States Marine Corps and his distinguished career in aviation. Over the years, he lived in Seattle, Washington; Northern Virginia; Montreal, Canada; and the northern suburbs of Dallas, Texas.

Steve dedicated his professional life to aviation safety and public service. He served as a Marine Corps helicopter rescue pilot during the Vietnam War, ultimately attaining the rank of Major. Following his military service, he became a Senior Air Safety Investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board before concluding his public career as Chief of Accident Investigation and Prevention for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Outside of work, Steve enjoyed traveling, fishing, singing, volunteering at church, woodworking, and just about any activity that kept his hands and mind busy. He found his greatest joy in spending time with family, celebrating holidays, sharing stories, and creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Whether in his professional career or personal life, he believed in doing things the right way and helping others whenever he could.

Steve is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathy Jordan Corrie; his sisters, Diane and Jackie; his daughters, Stephanie and Gwendolyn; his grandchildren, Jordan, Hannah, Callen, and Marc; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Corrie and Doris Branco, and his son Marc Corrie.

Those who knew Stephan will remember his kindness, sense of humor, generosity, work ethic, wisdom, faith, and patience. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the love he shared so freely.

A visitation and funeral service will be held on August 12 at Frisco First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to MDAnderson Cancer Center, Wounded Warriors, the Marine Corps League Foundation, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation, or that acts of kindness be performed in Stephan's memory.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories he gave us and the enduring example of a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
