Subbarao Dukkipati, 55, of Frisco, TX, left this earth on November 16th, 2021.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Subbarao was born in Kakinada to Harisitarama Swami and Vijayendra. He grew up with his elder brother Madhu and younger brother Srinivas. As a teen, he was a dedicated student, who loved investing from the age of 12. He pursued his education in India until he attained his Masters in Business Administration in America. It continued his passion and love for the study of economics and finance, which carried over to his career. He started in Chase Manhattan Bank in their Management Development Program, before joining Citibank and served in multiple senior leadership positions before his role as Managing Director of Global Operations at Citi for ten years. He retired at the age of 49 to spend time with his family and pursue his passion of investing.

Subbarao was a dedicated family man most of all. He met his wife, Vamsi, at the age of 27. They had one son, Vijay, and twin daughters, Asha and Naya. As a family they loved travel, movies, restaurant outings and playing monopoly. Everything he did was for his family and friends, even when he retired he'd spend hours with his children and his wife, driving them to school events, helping them with their schoolwork, careers: taking care of every detail that held their lives together. He offered the same help in whatever way, shape, or form to his friends and extended family. Subbarao always had a favorite quote to share, support in time of need and advice sourced from his hours of daily reading. He believed that “activity does not equal progress” in his strategy of investing and life—operating from an ethos of simplicity, fierce loyalty and love.

I was so sorry to hear of Subb’s passing. My deepest sympathies for his family. I had the opportunity to work for Subb for several years at Citi, starting about ten years ago. He gave me my first leadership opportunity and challenged me to bring my best. I will never forget his belief in me and the opportunity afforded me. He was special to me, and I regret not being able to reconnect with him to share what he meant to me. Prayers for the family. A wonderful man is missed but will never be forgotten.

Dear Vamsi & children, I am heartbroken to hear the passing away of Subbarao. We were students studying together at Nizam College (India) and later were roommates at Saint Louis University (US).  Although our lives took us in different directions, he has always been on my mind. Lots of fond memories to recollect - he made everyone around him better, was caring, smart, witty, positive, and deeply devoted to his family. It is hard for me to comprehend his loss. My deepest condolences to you and your entire family. Om Shanti!
