Todd Wayne Curtis was called home by the Lord on September 6, 2023. After a 17-month cancer battle, he died peacefully at home with his wife in his arms, father by his side, and surrounded by family. Todd reunited with his mama, Cathy Lassiter that evening and was survived by his wife Cheramie Curtis, two sons Nicholas and Griffin Curtis, dad Wayne Curtis, bonus mom Angie Curtis, sister Amy Curtis, sister Brandi Eastman, niece Isabella Crawford, nephew Hank Fiveash, nephew Xander Eastman, and countless other family and friends.
Todd was Todd…. He never met a stranger.
He was born in Corinth, Mississippi where he grew up until he moved to Ashdown, Arkansas when he was in the third grade, and then moved back to Corith to finish high school.
He was full of life and energy. His gift of gab, he got from his mama. His huge heart, quick wit, and infectious smile always lit up a room. The friends he had both in Ashdown and Corith were a special group, and although many miles apart, he remained close with them all.
After high school, he went to North East Mississippi Community college for a semester but ultimately decided to move to Dallas to spend some time with his dad. While in Dallas he met his first wife Elisa Powell. They were married for seven years before she passed away from complications associated with Cystic Fibrosis.
Shortly after her passing, he met his second wife and was blessed with his first son Nicholas Curtis and 3 step sons.
In 2003, he married Cheramie Curtis, his wife of twenty years, and was blessed again with his second son Griffin Curtis.
Todd worked many different jobs during his life but spent the last twenty-five years in the construction of both single-family and multi-family homes. Trammell Crow Residential had been his work home for the past ten years where he worked as a construction superintendent. He loved his job, watching things go from nothing to something. He enjoyed solving the curve ball challenges the job threw at him, but most of all, he loved the people he worked with.
Todd greatly enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and doing shows at the Grapevine Opry. Music was his medicine. He loved sharing that passion with both his boys. He enjoyed watching his boys grow up, playing sports, and trying new things. He loved sporting events, especially Saturday football in the Grove, watching his favorite team the Ole Miss Rebels.
However, Todd’s greatest love other than the Lord, and maybe his wife and sons was the outdoors. Any opportunity that arose to allow him to go hunting or fishing, and he was there. He would have been in the woods or out on the water every day of his life if it were possible. The memories he made with his Paw-Paw, his dad, and friends doing what he what he loved were priceless.
Todd’s spirit and unbelievable heart were unmatched. He always saw the good in everyone and everything. He enjoyed life every day as though it was his last.
Todd Wayne Curtis left his mark on this earth by the thousands of lives he touched. Ultimately, he got his dream fulfilled…the daily hunting and fishing are best in heaven.
Todd requested that, in lieu of flowers, people donate to Griffin’s college fund.
