Trudy Lynette Jones was born December 9, 1940 in Plainview, Texas. Her parents were Lamur (Jonesy) and Mildred Jones. One of four children, she is preceded in death by her older sister Gwen Thomas and is survived by her oldest brother Delbert Jones and his wife Joyce of Norman, Oklahoma, her youngest brother Rusty Jones and his wife Judy of Lubbock, Texas, and her brother-in-law Harold Thomas of Frisco, Texas. She was loved by 6 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews.
Trudy never married but loved and embraced her nieces and nephews as her own. Trudy’s older sister Gwen Thomas was her best friend their entire lives, and they had a loving relationship. However, Trudy’s and Gwen’s personalities were exactly the opposite. Maybe that was the reason their sisterly bond was so deep.
Trudy grew up at the end of the depression when money was scarce. In High School, Trudy worked for F.W. Woolworth in Plainview, Texas. Trudy received great joy in giving to others, and she purchased many gifts and toys for the family. Christmas time was special for Trudy, and it helped her focus on the joys of being a child. Every year for Christmas Trudy gave each family member a Christmas ornament, writing each person’s name and the year on the ornament. She also collected Santa Claus figurines and kept them out year-round because she loved the holiday season!
In 1969 Trudy moved to San Antonio, Texas. That was a big step for a single woman. Trudy always had a passion for San Antonio and the hill country, and she did a great job as a tour guide for family when they came to visit. Trudy created an independent life for herself in San Antonio. Once Trudy was settled in San Antonio, she befriended Cathy Camp and they had many adventures together. Trudy worked hard to purchase a home in a nice neighborhood and when Gabriel Plaza and his family moved in next door, Gabriel became like a son to Trudy, and they always shared a special bond.
For the last two years of her life, Trudy lived in Frisco, Texas in a beautiful apartment near her family. While in Frisco, she received great medical care and formed special friendships with Erin Day and Aimee Williams who both did a beautiful job of helping take care of her. They both got to know Trudy well and created loving friendships.
When our family remembers Trudy, we will always remember her as Loving, Generous, and Kind.
Rest in Peace sweet Trudy
