Alphonso Jordan

A homegoing celebration will be conducted on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home with Reverend John Sharp

presiding. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Jordan was born April 17, 1935 in Flint Hill, a son of the late Robert and Eva Underwood Jordan. He worked as a security guard for the United States

Customs Service. Prior to that, Mr. Jordan served his country for 22 years in the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief Hospital Corpsman.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Jordan is survived by his sons, Alphonso Rozier Jordan of Sandston, Michael Jordan of Columbus, OH; his godson, Tony Starks; and his brother,

Robert "Mo" Jordan, Jr.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, who passed away in February; his son, Brian Gerard Jordan; his

brothers, Eugene "Bear" Jordan, Brevious Jordan, and Thomas Jordan; and his sisters, Catherine Washington and Mary Jordan White.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Freeman, Ray Judy, Harry Miller, Morris Carter, James Williams, and Jim Freeman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Jordan, Bow Flynn and Charles Barbour.
