Lloyd was born on Tuesday, May 6, 1941 in Front Royal, Virginia. He was the son of Elizabeth Carter and the late Samuel Baltimore.
He received his formal education at Jennie Dean Public School in Manassas, VA. He held many different jobs and retired from Food Lion, but his true passion was barbering. He began cutting hair around the age of 18 and became the local barber; cutting hair in his basement. He cut hair for people of all ages and was known as “Mr. Lloyd” to the younger generation. When he wasn’t cutting hair, he enjoyed music, singing, bowling and photography. He enjoyed singing with the Journeymen and with the men’s choir at William’s Chapel CME church, of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Cavaliers club. He was an avid Redskins fan.
Lloyd was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. We will forever embrace and greatly miss his warm heart, kind and gentle soul .
He leaves to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy, his devoted wife of 52 years, Frances Martin; mother, Elizabeth Carter; five children, Debbie Butler (Steve) of Bentonville, VA, Lloyd Folkes, Jr. and Penny Folkes of Detroit, MI, Kevin Folkes (Angela) of Bristow, VA, and Briant Folkes (Tara) of Leesburg, VA; five grandchildren, Karen ( Mike), Kristen, Avanti, Kimberly, Isaiah and (Jadyn); three great grandchildren, Asia, Autumn and Ma’Kai; aunts, Henrietta Baltimore, Hanaha Jordan and Shirley Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
