Our Mother, Twilla Dressen, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2016 at the age of 95. Twilla was born to Fred and Bonnie Ross in Nebraska on October 25, 1921. She lived her early years in a rural area outside of Victoria Springs where she attended school in a one-room schoolhouse. In the dust bowl era of the early 1930’s, at the age of 13, Twilla and her family moved to Idaho in hopes of a better life. In 1939, she married her childhood playmate turned sweetheart, Elden Dressen. They celebrated almost 60 years of marriage before Elden passed away in 1999. Twilla spent her remaining years in the Treasure Valley where she was a long-time member of the Church of the Brethren in Fruitland.
Twilla was an out-going person who had many friends. She began selling Avon in 1954 and quickly became a District Sales Manager for the company. She loved meeting people and this job gave her that opportunity. Elden and Twilla retired in 1969. Retirement brought on many motorhome vacations, fishing trips and fun with her precious toy poodles. Many of their vacations included Emery and Margaret Beckwith (Twilla’s Sister), Russ and Lima Helfrecht and Lloyd and Betty Johnson.
Twilla was a wonderful cook and baker. Her cinnamon rolls will remain legendary. Twilla was a creative person and this showed especially in her sewing and flower gardens. She even helped Elden build their home, so carpentry can be added to her list of accomplishments.
Twilla was survived by all three of her children; Diane O’Dell and Don Dressen (Betty) of Fruitland and Shirley Rotert (Ron)of Westminster, Colorado. In addition, she leaves behind nine Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.
The family would like to recognize and thank the wonderful people at Royal Villa and Heart ‘n Home Hospice for the love and outstanding care they provided to our Mom.
Private services to celebrate her life will be held in the spring.
