A. Crew Waite

A. Crew Waite was 95 years young when he passed away August 21, 2021. He was born on July 19, 1926 in Long Beach, CA to Albert and Helen Waite. He was a devoted husband of 38 years to Marilyn (Flinn) Waite and for the most recent 29 years he was husband to his beloved Joan (Kalokira) Waite. He was the loving father of Brint Waite, Alan C Waite, Catherine Waite Pilitsis, and William Curtis Flinn Waite, and stepfather to Diane Rossi Odbert and Janet Rossi. Crew was the proud grandfather to Lea Pilitsis Nisenbaum, Laura Pilitsis, Gregory Pilitsis, Jarrett Waite, Johannah Carrillo Waite, Kristy Waite McCune, Renee Waite, and step grandfather to Michael Odbert and Mary Odbert. Crew was adored by his four great grandchildren, Morrison, Alexander, Olivia and Kaya. He was a dear brother to Elizabeth Waite Mackenzie and Verner Waite. He was a fond Uncle and a friend to many.

Crew served in the Navy from 1944-1946 as a Navy Electronics Technician, where his passion for electronics took hold. After his service, Crew attended UC Berkeley for 3 years and graduated from UCLA in 1950 with a BA in Zoology. He then returned to UC Berkeley and in 1952 received a BS in engineering-physics. Crew began his career in the early 50’s with Western Electric Field Engineering Forces, White Sands, NM. While there, he developed testing programs in support of the Safeguard System. He later leveraged his extensive knowledge of radar device tracking, transitioning to Bell Telephone Laboratories in Whippany, NJ – where he worked on the Cosmos application and other Bell telecommunication programs.

Crews’ hobbies and passions were diverse and extensive. He was ardent about health, woodworking, photography, music, travel and literally anything involving electronic circuitry.

Memorial Gathering on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 10am until time of Sharing at 11am, at Allnutt Funeral Home, Drake Chapel, 650 W. Drake Rd., Fort Collins, CO 80525.
