She was born September 16, 1934 in Dardanelle, Arkansas to Frank J. and Blanche Marie (Sevic) Hnizdil. Her school years were spent on a homestead in Willard, Colorado with her parents and siblings. Upon graduating from high school in Merino, Colorado, Addie moved to Sterling, Colorado, where she worked for 3 years at the Security State Bank.

It was in Sterling where she met Harold Dale Townsend of Stoneham, Colorado. They were married February 20, 1955. They lived in various locations in Northeast Colorado until Harold’s accidental death on June 22, 1971. On April 29, 1977, Addie married Kent L. Johnson. They lived in Lakewood, Arvada, and Loveland, Colorado areas for the next 47 years.

Her hobbies revolved around flowers, gardening, photos and sunsets. But her greatest love was for her church meetings, fellowship and conventions. It was in Wiggins, Colorado on February 28, 1971 that Addie professed her desire to walk with God when she responded to an invitation from two of God's servants, Charlotte Johnson and Chris Brewis. She and Kent enjoyed fellowship with family and friends at home and while traveling within the United States and abroad. She continued faithfully to this calling until her death.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Townsend; parents Frank & Blanche Hnizdil; brothers Tom (Katherine) Hnizdil, Frank (Catherine, Mary) Hnizdil, Paul Hnizdil, and Charles (Joylea) Radda; sisters Ann (Everett) Marshall, and Violet (Phillip) Christopherson; nephews, Doug Hnizdil, and Jimmy Hnizdil (who passed away as a child); and sister-in-law Karen Hnizdil.

Addie is survived by her husband Kent Johnson; children Monte (Gail) Townsend, Rhonda (Roger) McConnell, and Scott (Susan) Townsend; step-children Joni (Tom) McDonald, Donna (Mark) Richtsmeier, Monte (Dawn) Johnson, and Vonda (Rod) Williams; 24 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Vernon Hnizdil in Greeley, Colorado, sisters-in-law Betty Hnizdil in Windsor, Colorado and Shirley Kurth in Sterling, Colorado; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 at Allnutt Drake Chapel in Fort Collins, Colorado. Viewing will take place at 1:30pm, Addie's Funeral Service at 3:00pm and a Catered Reception will follow. Addie will be laid to eternal rest on Monday, August 5th, 2024 at 11:00am at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Colorado.
