Allen Hawthorne, 80, of Loveland, passed away on October 29, 2010 at McKee Medical Center. He was born on July 28, 1930 to Allen A. and Fern (Paul) Hawthorne in Goodland, KS. He attended school at Denver West High School where he played football. He joined the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. In the early 1950's, he joined the Navy Reserves where he also played football. He attended college at University of Houston. Allen was a coach and teacher in Baytown, TX for Sterling High School and retired from teaching in 1978. He was a resident of Onalska, TX for 30 years and moved to Loveland in 2008. He was a huge advocate for animal rights and welfare. He loved the outdoors with all of the wildlife and wild flowers.He was preceded in death by his parents and aunt and uncle, John and Betty Paul. He is survived by a sister, Barbara Jean Horner of Pennsylvania; a niece, Marilyn (Joe) McCarthy of Indianapolis; close cousins, Judy Faye Paul and family, Larry Paul and family, Allen Paul and family; and numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2:30 pm Thursday at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins.
