Inurnment will be at the Columbarium and will be preceded by a Celebration of Life gathering at Allnutt Funeral Service on Drake in Fort Collins, beginning at 11 a.m.
She is survived by daughters Anita Godkin and Sherrie (Vincent) DiFronzo, granddaughter Kendall (Rick) May, grandson Bobby DiFronzo, and great-granddaughters Emma and Mackenzie May. In addition to losing her husband, Shelly, in early 2022, she was predeceased by daughter Joanne Suppes and grandson Jesse DiFronzo as well as her parents, Sherman and Ethel Gamble of West Virginia, her brother, Arlie Gamble, and sister, Beatrice (Bea) Wingler.
Born on January 8, 1934 and raised in and around Landville, WV, after graduating from High School, Aloma was eager to move to Washington DC where she secured a job as a Dental Assistant and shared a home with several of her lady friends. A knock on the door one Saturday morning announced the arrival of a young man looking for one of her roommates. As fate would have it, that young Air Force fighter pilot happened to be Shelly and when Aloma opened the door, they took one look at each other and the rest, as they say, is history. Aloma and Shelly were married on June 22, 1957 and embarked upon a 30-year Air Force career with Shelly retiring in 1983 as a Colonel.
In retirement, they remained in Fort Collins and Aloma made a beautiful home for family and friends and she helped Shelly as he opened and ran, for many years, the University Club at CSU. They loved to travel and embarked upon many adventures across the US and Europe, including several trips related to Rotary, one of Shelly’s great passions.
The epitome of a love story for the ages, Aloma and Shelly will be laid to rest on Friday, June 16th after a Celebration of Life gathering beginning at 11 a.m. at Allnutt on Drake in Ft. Collins.
