Annabelle Leo

Annabelle Leo, 104, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2022. She was born on September 29, 1917 to Fred and Eva McLellan. She was the devoted wife of 70 years to Joseph Leo and loving mother of Edward Leo and Joanne Leo Schmidt. She was the proud grandmother of Eva Dayananthan, Alex Schmidt, Sammie Leo and David Leo. The was a wonderful Great-Grandmother to Annabelle Dayananthan(4yrs), Eleanor Dayananthan(4yrs), and Audrey Dayananthan(2yrs). She is preceded in death by: Joseph Leo and Joanne Leo Schmidt.

Annabelle was a loving, effervescent, brilliant, fun, and spirited servant of God, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her life spanned many historical events including two world wars, two major global pandemics, and America’s suffrage movement. She raised an Air Force family from California to Maine, Texas to Michigan before she and Joseph 'retired' in Fort Collins. After the children left home Annabelle brushed up on her secretarial skills and worked for the the Fort Collins Utility department for ten years.

She was over 100 years older than her great grandchildren who she spoke with almost every night by video. She demonstrated selfless love and encouraging words to so many. When many would tell her, “You’re amazing!” she would reply, “No, I’m Annabelle.” She brought joy to family and friends and will be greatly missed.
