Betty was born on August 13, 1928, to Hancel and Buna Mae Moore. She married the love of her life, Alvin Krieger, on June 27, 1948, and together they built a remarkable life over nearly 77 years of marriage — a partnership rooted in loyalty, resilience, friendship, and deep affection.
Not long after they were married, Betty Lou and Alvin welcomed two children, Danny Lee and Mary Jane, into their family. Together, they built a life full of adventure, hard work, and countless memories.
In the early years, Betty and Alvin did not have much, but through perseverance and determination, they created a life rich in the things that mattered most: family, friendships, laughter, and time together.
Betty worked for many years as a legal secretary in Colorado and later in Las Vegas. She and Alvin shared a love of travel and adventure, spending years exploring and making memories everywhere they went. One of Betty’s favorite places was the Snake River in
Oregon, where she loved spending time fishing with Al.
She loved to fish. Catfish, crappie, trout — it didn’t matter much as long as she was out on the water with Alvin, whether in Colorado, Oregon, Alaska, or somewhere new waiting to
be explored.
Betty also loved needlework and puzzles. Visitors to Betty and Alvin’s home could often expect to find a puzzle spread across the table, with family and friends stopping by to visit and lend a hand.
One of the sweetest things about their marriage was the way Alvin referred to Betty — often simply as “my friend” or “my bride.” Even after nearly 77 years together, those words never lost their meaning.
Betty was preceded in death by her children, Danny Lee Krieger and Mary Jane Burkes; her parents; and seven siblings. She is survived by her husband and lifelong teammate, Alvin; her brothers, Buddy and Gary; along with extended family, nieces, nephews, dear
friends, and many people whose lives were better because she was part of them.
Ninety-seven years on this earth is a long story. Betty Lou’s story was one of beauty, friendship, humor, and love. She will be deeply missed.
