Beverley was born on September 20, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Frank and Alberta Wright. She married her eighth-grade sweetheart Keith Ickes in 1971, after they reconnected in college, and was a mother to sons Nathan and Andrew.
She received a B.A. in Sociology and Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1970, and an MBA from the University of Indiana in 1982. Apart from many years dedicated to family, Beverley spent the majority of her working career in higher education administration, working at Indiana University, Colorado State University, and the University of Idaho.
Despite the eventual difficulties of living with Alzheimer’s disease, Beverley was forever devoted to her family, and was always ready to join in the new directions her sons, and later daughter-in-law and granddaughter, took her over the years. Amongst her friends, Beverley is remembered for her kindness, wry sense of humor, and her skill at sewing, quilting, knitting, and gardening.
Beverley is survived by her sons Nathan and Andrew (Tracy) Ickes, granddaughter Eliana, and sister Carolyn Wright. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Keith, both of her parents, and sisters Patricia Windeler and Shirley Hamley.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Collins on Wednesday, July 8 at 10:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Fort Collins, CO., First United Methodist Church in Moscow, ID, or to UNICEF.
