Brenda Kay Herring

Brenda was born on August 21, 1952, in Springfield, Missouri, to Joe and Huttie Bockman. In 1964, her family moved to Encampment, Wyoming, where she grew up and graduated from Encampment High School in 1970.

After high school, she married Stuart Herring. They shared 55 years of marriage and built a beautiful life centered on love and family. They raised three daughters in Encampment until 2004, when they moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to be closer to their youngest daughter, Lindsay, as Stu prepared for retirement from the coal mines.

Brenda was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend. She was warm, thoughtful, and deeply caring, and her family was the greatest joy of her life. She never missed an important milestone and loved being present for the people she loved. Stu and Brenda made many trips to Big Piney, Wyoming, to ensure they did not miss anything their grandchildren were involved in. Whether it was a school activity, sporting event, rodeo, barrel race, Ian’s Special Olympics events, birthday, or another special occasion, they wanted to be there to cheer them on and share in their happiness.

After moving to Fort Collins, Brenda and Stu enjoyed spending time with Lindsay, especially going out to eat and taking day trips to explore the wonderful places in and around Fort Collins. These outings gave them many happy memories together and were a special part of their life in Colorado.

Brenda never missed a birthday for any of her five grandchildren and always found a way to make each one feel special and remembered. She brought extra warmth and joy to holidays and birthdays, creating traditions and memories her family will cherish forever. She loved decorating Christmas trees, interior decorating, and making her home beautiful. She also enjoyed making wreaths for family and friends, including using her grandson Kolby’s ropes to make some of them. Brenda had a natural gift for making things beautiful, but it was the love and personal thought she put into everything that made her efforts so meaningful.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Stuart Herring; daughter Staci Jones and husband Jake Jones of Big Piney, Wyoming, and their children, Dalton Jones and wife Heidi Jones of Pinedale, Wyoming, and their daughter Summer, Brenda’s first great-grandchild; Chandler Pluid and husband Bryan Pluid of Glenrock, Wyoming; and Ian Jones of Big Piney, Wyoming; daughter Tiffanie Bradley and husband Mack Bradley of Big Piney, Wyoming, and their children, Karson Berger and husband Jace Berger of Saratoga, Wyoming, and Kolby Bradley and fiancée Ashtyn Seeley of Big Piney, Wyoming: and daughter Lindsay Curry and husband Matthew Curry of Timnath, Colorado.

She is also survived by her brothers Gary Bockman of Encampment, Wyoming; Larry Bockman of Casper, Wyoming; and Mark Bockman and wife Tami of Bar Nunn, Wyoming; along with many nieces and nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, Huttie Bockman, and her father, Joe Bockman.

Brenda will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent together. She leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories that her family will carry with them always.

A memorial service for Brenda will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Grand Encampment Opera House in Encampment, Wyoming. The service will be followed by a graveside service at the Encampment Cemetery.

A reception and gathering with family and friends will follow at the Opera House.

Brenda loved the colors purple and lavender, and her family would love for anyone who would like to wear purple or lavender to do so in her memory.
