He leaves behind his parents, Matt and Jean, and siblings, Jennifer and Brian, brother-in-law, Kyle, niece, River, and ex-wife, Julia. He also leaves behind grandparents, Cathy and Jerry, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Brendan was born on December 12, 1985, at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. Growing up in a close-knit family, he shared a special bond with his siblings; he and his sister, Jenny, became particularly close during their high school years, while his younger brother, Brian, always looked up to him as a role model.
A dedicated student and lifelong learner, Brendan attended the School of the Madeline from kindergarten through 8th grade, followed by St. Augustine High School and Clairemont High. He was a true self-starter, possessing a disciplined mind that allowed him to master complex skills through self-directed study. Whether it was dietary nutrition, audio engineering, or his career as a website designer and developer, Brendan pursued his passions with professional excellence.
On September 9, 2017, Brendan married Julia Larson at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. Their journey took them from the beauty of Kauai and Maui to Sedona and Phoenix, eventually settling in Leander, Texas, in 2024. Though they later parted ways, they shared many years of adventure and discovery.
Brendan—affectionately known as "Brendeer"—was a man of profound kindness and sensitivity. He was the rare person who consistently prioritized the right thing over the convenient thing, adhering strictly to his ethics and beliefs. He had a gift for perspective, often helping others zoom out from their worries to see the "big picture." His family will fondly remember his "mini 'piphs"—those quick, insightful epiphanies he loved to share.
His zest for life was evident in his many hobbies. As a boy, he built model rockets with his father, grandfather, and uncles in the desert and joined the Boy Scouts. He was an athlete who enjoyed swimming, soccer, football, and skateboarding, and he felt most at home in the outdoors—from the mountains to the beach. Above all, music was his soul’s language. An excellent drummer, he performed in several bands in San Diego and was actively working toward a career in music.
Brendan’s spiritual nature guided him throughout his life, and he found great peace in the beauty of the islands and the desert. He also held a deep affection for the family rescue, Misty, whom he jokingly dubbed a "Labrahealer." He shared a special connection and a birthday with his beloved Aunt Jane, whose bond he cherished deeply.
Brendan’s humor, his talent, and his unwavering commitment to his values created a legacy of light that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A Memorial Mass was held for Brendan on Friday, April 24, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland, Colorado. He was placed to rest at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado.
To those who were able to attend Brendan's service and those who may have contributed in any way along the way, and those who continue to keep our family in your prayers, thank you for the love and support during this heartbreaking time.
