Cara Marie Montgomery

August 19, 1987July 24, 2020

Cara Marie Steinbicker Montgomery passed away into God’s loving arms on July 24, 2020, surrounded by her adoring family. She succumbed to injuries from an accidental fall. Her loving spirit and beautiful smile will be deeply missed by her many friends and family.

Born in Fort Collins, Colorado on August 19, 1987 to Steve and Suzanne Steinbicker, Cara graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Economics, minor in Business Administration. She attended Rocky Mountain High School and was an avid soccer player in her youth. Cara worked as a Financial Analyst for Roubaix Capital, LLC in Denver.

She is survived by the loves of her life, husband Brian and son Archer Montgomery, parents Steve and Suzanne Steinbicker, sister Caitlin Baker (Casey) nephew Rowan, niece Sora, brother Andrew (Mariam), many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Cara loved to travel, savoring beaches in Florida and Croatia, exploring Europe, and visiting friends in Alaska. But her favorite was a trip to Mickey’s Castle with Archer and Brian. She was a devoted wife and mother, assuring fun-filled days for Archer.

Cara gave to the very end: her organs are now helping the recipients live fuller lives. Cara generously loved her family and friends and put much effort into maintaining long-term relationships. We will miss her daily phone calls that always ended with “I love you”. Please remember to hold your loved ones close in honor of Cara.

Cara’s Grandmother Marie Donahue followed her into heaven the next day. They are both now privy to the eternal life of the spirit. They are with us at this moment, beaming, overflowing with love.

A celebration of life will be held when social distancing is no longer needed. In the meantime, we will celebrate her life every day. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hearts and Horses, 163 N. CR 29, Loveland, CO 80537.

For life and death are one, even as the river and sea are one (Khalil Gibran)

Death has nothing to do with going away. The sun sets, the moon sets, but they are not gone (Rumi)

Steve and Suzanne,
I was so saddened to learn of Cara’s passing. I can’t imagine the grief of losing a child. Please know that you and the family, Brian and Archer are in our thoughts and prayers. “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart” Psalm 34:18 “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:7.

Steve and Suzanne,
I don’t even have words to tell you how sorry I was to hear about Cara. Although I didn’t know her well, I remember her as a happy, carefree kid around the neighborhood. My thoughts are with you all as you mourn your beautiful child. Know that you are surrounded by people who love you and support you in this time.

Steve and Suzanne, I did not know your daughter but was moved when I read of her organ donation. My daughter Melanie went into heart failure in April after giving birth at age 38. On June 7, she had a heart transplant, the heart came from a 19 year old. We can only imagine the pain for that family and for you but I hope in the days and weeks forward you will come to know how incredibly thankful those families are. I will be eternally thankful for the unselfish gift of organ donors and at the same time recognizing the devastating loss for each family.

Suzanne and Steve, so sorry to read of the unimaginable loss of your beloved, Cara. We unfortunately know this club to which you just gained entry. Be gentle with yourselves. Grief will take whatever time grief wants.
I’m here to go for a walk and hear your stories so I can know Cara better. Andrew was such a precious little friend to Christian back in the Werner days.
Sending all of you so much love.
