Cazzie was always the optimist with a big smile that would light up any room, and she maintained her joyful, happy essence despite her battle with Alzheimer’s. She had a vivacious personality, and loved to sing and dance. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds in the summer. She loved everything to do with Christmas including Santa Claus. She was totally devoted to her family, they were her world. She will be forever missed.
She was born March 21, 1938 in Jena, LA to Jimmie Daniel and Laura Mae Cureington. Cazzie was the youngest of six children. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Herman Schmidt Jr., her sisters LaVerne Womack, Susan Sare, and Violet Bearly, and her brothers Earl Cureington and JD Cureington.
She is survived by her daughter Faye Schmidt Dorcey (John) and son Wade Schmidt (Carrie), her grandchildren Jessica Dorcey (NY), Jennifer Dorcey (CO), Colleen Mazure, Annie Mazure Schmidt, Ryan Mazure Schmidt, Victoria Schmidt and Jonathan Schmidt (all of WA), very special nieces Lucretia Crowley (TX) and Deborah Collins (FL), extended family and longtime friends.
She will be cremated and a private service will be held in the spring when she is interred with Herman at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
