Charles Marshall "Chuck" Harrison, 40, of Timnath, Colorado passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 4th, 2022 while in Oklahoma doing one of his favorite things: competing as a semi-pro angler in an eight state B.A.S.S. Nation’s Central Regional Tournament as a boater. Coming full circle, Chuck began his very successful fishing career competing for a spot on the Colorado BASS Nation team in 2014 on Grand Lake of the Cherokees in Grove, Oklahoma, the very same lake on which eight years later he left us.
Chuck was born January 15, 1982 in Fort Collins, Colorado and lived an idyllic life. He grew up in northern Colorado on family ranches on the Poudre River and in North Park. Over the years, Chuck’s love for the water and the outdoors only grew stronger and evolved into his many active hobbies. He loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, snowboard, golf and do anything active outdoors with friends or family. He is survived by his father Craig D. (Catherine) Harrison, brother Craig R. (Nicole) Harrison, nephew Wyatt Harrison and niece Birdie Harrison, as well as two stepbrothers, Drew (Saronda) Doering and Jackson (Kelly) Doering. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles R. Harrison, grandmother Iris Gable Harrison, uncle Bruce (Kristine) Harrison, and stepbrother, Alex Doering.
Chuck was a loving son, brother, and uncle, but was best described as a wonderful friend. Chuck’s legacy will definitely live on with his many, many friends. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for the people in his life. He was such a giver and so generous with his time, love, and humor. Whatever he had to share, be of assistance or fix your problem - Chuck was there. He truly would give the shirt off of his back; his generosity had no limits. He was always there for anyone in his life and everyone around him loved being with him. He could charm anyone with his big heart, beautiful blue eyes, kind smile, and a bear hug. He excelled at any activity he tried, but he always remained modest.
In 2014, Chuck started competitive bass fishing by seeking a spot on the Colorado Bass Nation State Team. Through his success, he represented Colorado as a member of Colorado’s team both as a co-angler and as a boater. In 2017, Chuck finished first as a co-angler both for Colorado and in the 10 state-western region at B.A.S.S. Nation‘s Western Regional tournament held at Lake Shasta, California. Winning Western Regionals as a co-angler was a major accomplishment and a first for Colorado. These victories allowed him to compete in the B.A.S.S. National Championship at Lake Hartwell, South Carolina later in 2017, finishing 18th on the co-angler side. Chuck fished many other competitive bass fishing events as well. In 2021, at the US Open, known as one the toughest annual fishing tournaments, he finished 11th place at Lake Mead in Arizona. Chuck fished against more than 200 semi-pro anglers in this tournament. On a lighter note, Chuck was also the reigning Stage Coach Trout Ice Fishing Champion in Steamboat Springs, CO. In all tournaments, Chuck was a true competitive warrior. However, he truly enjoyed being with friends and family on the water more than competitive fishing - the love, laughter and togetherness is what he really cared about the most. He showed this through his big, warm, peaceful smile and exterior that he carried and shared with his many friends and acquaintances.
Chuck was an excellent bass angler and he was an excellent fisherman of all types of fishing - fly fishing, bass fishing, and ice fishing. The man could fish! He spent much of his life on the places he loved most, the two family ranches. There he could be with his friends and share in his love for everything Colorado. Chuck also loved kids, especially his niece and nephew. But he was so kind and patient with all kids, and loved being around them. Not having children of his own, he became “Uncle Chucky" to many of his friends’ kids. It was his gentle way and kind face to which kids and so many people were drawn. Chuck lived his life pursuing his passions and his relationships with people. He will be missed by many. Next time you cast a line, sit in a blind, have a Naturday, or sit around a campfire, think of Chuck and how happy he would be that you are doing something you love with people you love, just like he would.
The family has chosen to have a private ceremony in his honor. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Chuck can be made to the Northern Colorado Community Foundation to the Charles Marshall "Chuck" Harrison Memorial Fund to benefit Kids and Fishing. https://nocofoundation.org/philanthropists/donate/
