Phyllis ""Charlotte"" Yvonne Jones 87, of Fort Collins passed away Christmas Day 2015 at Spring Creek Healthcare in Fort Collins. She was born in Fort Collins on July 31, 1928 to Irish immigrant parents, Finis Sullivan and Wylena (Thomas) Sullivan. She was the oldest of 6 children. All of her siblings survive her. She grew up in Rist Canyon, surviving two home fires. She graduated from Poudre High School in 1946. Charlotte and Howard and family had lived in their Pearl Street home in Fort Collins for over 60 years, and she had worked as an office administrator for a chiropractic business. Charlotte was a homemaker par excellance, entertaining her family and her husband’s family frequently. She had taken wonderful care of her elderly parents until their passing.
Her husband Howard C. Jones passed away September 13, 2014. The two were married at the Fort Collins courthouse on February 12, 1948 and relished celebrating their anniversary each Valentine’s Day. They laughed, loved and lived, holding each other's hand for over 66 years. They were such a perfect couple together. They had one daughter, Debbie Hruby, who passed away in October of 2010. Howard visited Charlotte each day in the nursing home, and they took many a car trips up Rist Canyon to reminisce.
Charlotte accompanied Howard on many hunting and fishing trips as well as being the camp cook and the fish cleaner. She loved recording all of the family adventures in photos. She had a huge owl collection which brought her great joy.
She is survived by her two granddaughters, Aubrey Hruby of Washington DC and Adrienne Hruby of Japan along with her son-in-law Dean Hruby of Littleton, and her siblings and nieces and nephews whom she enjoyed very much.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, at Resthaven Funeral Home, Fort Collins.
