Christine Augusta Glover

October 29, 1940October 28, 2019

Christine Glover, resident of Fort Collins, CO, died of natural causes resulting from a 4 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia on Monday, October 28, 2019, one day short of her 79th birthday.

Christine is survived by her 3 daughters: Nicole Sampson and her husband, Vic; Coleen Kreikemeier and her husband, Tyler; and Lisa Stenzel; and her eight grandchildren: Jacob Glover, Kelsy Kreikemeier, Emma Blandford, Ian Sampson, Trey Kreikemeier, Sonja Sampson, Madison Blandford and Paige Sampson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Norma Fischer, and her grandson, Ty Stenzel.

Christine was born on October 29, 1940 in Cleveland, OH to Howard and Ruth Effland Fischer. She attended Cleveland Lutheran High School. She met Arthur Glover in June 1961 at a softball game. They were married the following summer on August 18, 1962 in Cleveland, OH. In August 1964, they decided to move west for better job opportunities and settled in Fort Collins, CO where Arthur’s parents lived. They had 3 daughters who Christine devoted her life to up to the very end of her life. She worked various bank jobs before being hired at Woodward Governor, first as a key-punch operator, then as a switchboard operator and shipping clerk. She retired after 19 years in 1996, although she went on to work a variety of other jobs, so she never truly retired.

Christine was a woman with a heart of gold and a kind disposition for anyone she met. She lived her life with strength, dignity, honesty and love. She opened her home to anyone and provided a safe place for all her children’s friends over the years. She was an active 4-H leader, bowler, volunteer, mother, grandmother and friend. She leaves behind a legacy to follow about how to live life and has created a void that can never be filled.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 2:00 pm, November 20, 2019, at Harmony Presbyterian Church, 400 East Boardwalk Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80525. Pastor Gus Wright will officiate. Flowers, donations and condolences can be offered at that time. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Peaks Center for their care, dedication and kindness towards Christine over the last 2 ½ years.

Christine was one of my older cousins. I remember her as quiet and kind. I also remember my aunt Marge and uncle Howard telling us all about their visits to see her and her family. I think she thought of Christine as the daughter she never had, especially after Christines mother passed. My thoughts and prayers to her family. She was a special person!

To Chris.
You were an inspiration in my younger life. You kept me on the right track when I started to veer off track and even when I did not listen, you supported me in the decisions I made. Later in life you you still taught me the right way of doing things. We did not see much of each other, or get to talk much but the memories will always be there. You are an inspiration to me that I hope I can pass on to others as my life goes on. I will think of you and your memories each day. Thank you for the time we had together. May you be at peace in your eternal life.

It is with a sadden heart that I write this of my dear friend and classmate many years (3rd grade to graduation from LHS 1958). We had many great times and the last I saw of Chris was at her shower to get married. She said she couldn't wait for any longer. The Lord will take care of this fine lady and friend. God bless and God speed.

Chris was my mom's closest and favorite cousin, so we knew her as Aunt Chris. I will forever remember her ever-present smile and love for my mom and us. Her daughters and grandchildren were always the most important part of her life. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
