

She was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on September 17, 1926 to Herbert R and Mildred A (Kerns) Mitchell. She lived on the family farm in Fort Collins. They moved to a ranch in Livermore, Colorado. She graduated in Fort Collins in 1945. Darlene continued her education by attending and graduating from a Practical Nursing School.
Darlene was a public health nurse for many years. She then continued her nursing career as Dr. Adams and Dr. Bob Humphry's nurse.
On August 25, 1956 she married Frank Alva Just. They moved to Wichita, Kansas where Frank worked at Boeing Aircraft Industry until 1959. They moved back to Fort Collins where Frank started Fort Collins Welding Fabricators. Darlene became the bookkeeper for his business as well as for the Church of the Nazarene. Later, she became an insurance receptionist and secretary.
Darlene and her sister Donna sang on the radio in both Fort Collins and Denver, Colorado. They made gospel recordings in Fort Collins. Darlene enjoyed playing her violin and guitar as well as the piano in church orchestras as well as accompanying hymns. Darlene loved planning and holding church parties, activities, and programs.
Darlene and Frank loved to go camping together and wither her sister Donna. They visited her sister Dorothy and husband Al in Texas whenever they could.
Pets were very important to Darlene and Frank. They usually had poodles who were dearly loved.
Gardening, lawns, and flower gardens kept her busy as well. Her real passion was loving her extended family with her whole heart, in any and every way possible.
Darlene loved the Lord, and greatly depended on Him to see her through many difficulties. Prayer was very important to Darlene as well.
Darlene's family wishes to thank all for the love and help they gave Darlene. She was dearly loved and cared for by the devoted hospice pastor and nurses at Bristol Hospice who helped her each week in her final days. She was cared for by Shirley and Tony Guitron, Linda, Debbie, and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Just, her parents Herbert and Mildred Mitchell, two sisters and their husbands: Dorothy and Alfred Kline, and Donna and Paul Hartman, two nephews Ronald Kline and Gene Kline.
Surviving are a niece and her family: Paula (James) Knight, their sons James Knight, Kyle Knight, daughter Krista Knight of Casper, Wyoming; nephews Jerry (Carol) Kline, Stephen Kline, and niece LaDonna Kline of Valley Mills, Texas.
