Dave was born on February 24, 1956, in Deadwood, South Dakota. Dave moved around a lot as a young boy, but eventually settle in the Loveland-Berthoud area. Dave graduated from Loveland High School in 1974 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1979. Dave found his calling teaching "shop" classes, where he made a lasting impact on countless students. He had a special ability to connect with those who struggled in traditional classroom settings, offering them guidance and encouragement that often extended far beyond the classroom walls. While he retired from teaching later in life, Dave always cherished the time spent with his students and the relationships he built along the way.
Outside of his professional life, Dave was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife Rhonda; daughter Courtney (Aaron); son Justin (Emma); brothers Darrel (Michele) and John (Debbie); sisters Dawn (Steve) and Kristi; grandchildren Jayce, Parker and Adalynn. He had many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, that he cherished dearly. He was predeceased by his parents Donna and Patrick; as well as his brother Danny.
Dave's children were the pride of his life. He loved watching them participate in sports and took great joy in their accomplishments. While being a gifted athlete himself, he also thoroughly enjoyed coaching football and track.
Dave's legacy is one of dedication—to his family, to his students, and to the many lives he touched through teaching and coaching. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best. Dave’s decision to be a donor allowed him to donate his corneas.
May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn him.
