Born in Fort Collins, Colorado at Poudre Valley Hospital, Deb was the youngest of six children of Harold and Maxine Pedersen. From an early age, she was enveloped in love and care for by her siblings, who affectionately spoiled her as the baby of the family, often saying that "the rules never applied to her". Her childhood was full of memories that reflected the richness of her life. One of her favorite memories growing up included her mom, Maxine, who carried a lamb up two flights of stairs so she could show it to the other students at her elementary school's show and tell. She always shared the memory that when her dad, Harold, would leave to go hunting, she would be waiting outside, so excited for his return. Additionally, every holiday and birthday at Deb's home growing up, there was always a full house of friends and family who would gather around the dining room table together. Her father and mother always had a big garden in their backyard which later contributed to Deb's love of gardening. Deb grew up in a home overflowing with joy, love, and laughter, with the best parents and siblings. She always shared that she felt lucky to have grown up the way she did.
Deb's love for learning and technology began at an early age. She attended Putnam Elementary, Blevins Junior High School, Poudre High School, and then attended college at the University of Northern Colorado, where she earned a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business. After her early work in construction with her two older brothers, Jerry and Dave, she found her calling at Colorado State University, where she dedicated 25 years of service as the Computer Labs Manager within the Warner College of Natural Resources.
Deb met her soulmate, John Devore, in high school, and their bond quickly blossomed into a lifelong love story. They were Married on august 22nd, 1987 at TWO Bars Seven Ranch in Laramie, WY. They were together for, as John liked to say, 48 "blissful" years and married for 38 years. However, their love for each other is eternal. Above all, Deb was a devoted mother to her three children: Hannah, Mallory, And Tanner Devore. Her world revolved around them, and she instilled in them not just love, but values. Particularly a deep appreciation for nature, connection, and family. She was not only their real-life superhero, but truly the center of their solar system.
Deb epitomized doing what you love because life goes fast. She was a loyal and kind person, who always wanted to be surrounded by her friends and family. She was known for her love of nature and being outside, whether that was hiking in the Rocky Mountains, going to her brothers' cabins in South Park, riding bikes with her friends to breweries, camping with her family and friends, gardening and planting flowers, etc. She did everything that involved nature.
Her laughter was unforgettable- bright, contagious, and recognizable at any gathering. She brought people together with her kind heart and strong spirit, always showing up for others with generosity and love. She will be remembered through the lilacs that bloom in the Spring, the stillness of the forest, the song of a morning bird, the sound of crickets on a summer night, fields of Indian paintbrush in the mountains, the stars & moon in the night sky, and so much more. She was and still is everything, to the ones who loved her.
Deb is survived by her loving husband John Devore; her children Hannah Devore (Nicholas Volz), Mallory Devore, and Tanner Devore; her siblings Dean Pedersen, Becky Modlin (Larry), Dave Pedersen (Karyn), Jerry Pedersen (Jo Anne), Peggy Bell (Randy); and her fur baby, Ember. Deb loved her four grand-dogs Maia, Oden, Rey, and Moon; Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law Bob & Kris Devore. To Deb they were not only family, but two of her dearest lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister-in-law Glenda Pedersen.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Deb's memory by considering contributing to pay off some of the medical bills that are still lingering from her cancer treatments. A donation box will be available at her service. The family appreciates your presence and well wishes during this time.
