Earl Otto Reinkensmeyer passed peacefully, at home in his sleep, into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on January 20, 2021, while his family was caring for him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unending support for his family and friends. He was truly a gentle man.
Earl was born in Shattuc, IL, on April 19, 1939, to Otto and Hermine (Twenhafel) Reinkensmeyer and moved his family to Fort Collins in 1988. After growing up on the family farm, Earl graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Illinois and then served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He then held various engineering and management positions in product development and marketing in the computer and semiconductor industries. He directed product and business start-up activities and provided technical and business consulting in the electronics industry. He served as a speaker at numerous conferences and seminars, and his articles have been published in leading journals.
He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fort Collins Rotary, and the Gideons International.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Elaine Reinkensmeyer.
He is survived by his two sons, Jeff (Amelia) Reinkensmeyer of Highlands Ranch, CO, and David (Andrea) Reinkensmeyer of Irvine, CA; grandchildren, Dillon, Will, Caroline, Anna, and Luke. He will be dearly missed.
