Ed Campos, 93, of Fort Collins, CO. passed away peacefully with family by his side on February 26, 2021.
He was born in Toyah, TX. To Pedro and Josefa Campos on September 11, 1927.
Ed is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth, also of the home. A sister, Loretta Campos of Toyah, TX.; three children, Ed, Jr. (Carol) of Fort Collins, CO., Edna Schwartz (Rob) of Amarillo, TX. and Edmee Ahrenholtz (Paul) of Pearland, TX.; seven grandchildren, Jason Ahrenholtz (Courtney) of Texas, Christy Beauprez (Brad) of Fort Collins, CO., Andrea Clayton (LJ) of Texas, Craig Campos (Melissa) of Fort Collins, CO., Amy Schwartz (Gene Halsey) of Fort Collins, CO., Tyler Campos (Danielle) of Fort Collins, CO., and Sarah Schwartz of Wisconsin; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers-in-law, Terry, Joe, Tom, Pete and Don Miller all of Kansas, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Maria Elia; sisters, Flo Martinez, Olivia Guerra, and Ramona Campos; and brothers-in-law, Luis Guerra and Alfredo Martinez; and foster brother, Manuel Tarin.
He attended McMurry University and received his Bachelor’s Degree and earned his Master’s Degree at CSU in Medical Entomology. He worked in the public health field for over 29 years. Ed retired as a Research Medical Entomologist in 1991 from the CDC, Fort Collins, CO.
He lived life well. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. His biggest joy of all was watching his grandchildren become successful adults. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, golf, hunting and fishing. He treasured the friends he made at the RAC.
The family would like to thank Susie Dangerfield for her help and guidance during our trying time.
A Memorial Service was held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Allnutt Funeral Service - Drake Road Chapel, 650 W. Drake Road; Fort Collins, Colorado 80526.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Walburga Abbey or St. Jude Research Hospital.
